Regional Centres of IGNTU
There is only one Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Amarkantak (M.P.) which is functioning at Imphal, Manipur State.
According to IGNTU, requests from the States of Chhattisgarh , Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa , Jammu & Kashmir , Assam, Andhra Pradesh , Gujarat and Kerala for opening of regional centre of IGNTU in the respective States have been received.
As regards the proposal of Govt. of Gujarat to provide land for the regional centre, it is informed that no such proposal has been received from the State Government of Gujarat. This Ministry has taken a policy decision that IGNTU should first stabilize its operations at its main Campus at Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh. As of now the main Campus of IGNTU at Amarkantak has not been fully established academically and infrastructure wise.
