The Commission has announced the Schedule for bye-election from 315-Pharenda Assembly Constituency in Uttar Pradesh alongwith other bye-elections vide Press Note No. ECI/PN/23/2015 dated 10^th March, 2015.

            The Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad had stayed the current bye-election from 315-Pharenda A.C. in Uttar Pradesh vide their Order passed on 20-03-15 in Writ. C No. 14270 of 2015 (filed by Sh. Bajrang Bahadur Singh). The Commission filed an SLP before the Hon’ble Supreme Court (SLP (civil) No. 8850 of 2015-Election Commission of India vs. Bajrang Bahadur Singh & others) challenging the order passed by the High Court. On the said SLP the Hon’ble Supreme Court has today (23-03-15) stayed the order dated 20-03-15 of the Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad.

2.         In view of the above, the election process for the abovementioned by-election will continue as per schedule. The Chief Electoral Order of Uttar Pradesh/Returning Officer of the constituency and the District Election Officer have been informed of this development. They have been requested to inform the political parties also. Further, they have been requested to give wide publicity through media so that political parties and general public are informed that the election process is on.
