Depot Online project for automation of FCI

The Government has approved implementation of the Depot Online project in FCI with the objective of automating the operations of FCI at the depot level. This includes procurement, storage and movement of foodgrains. The Depot Online Project will bring in efficiency and reliability in the operations of FCI & help the FCI in managing its operations better. This information was given by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.

The Minister said that the Depot Online System will help to fix accountability and responsibility at depot level for storage losses of foodgrains and all depot operations will be online right from the point of entry of foodgrains till the exit of the same.

Shri Paswan said that as per the approved action plan, FCI has selected the project consultants for managing the implementation of the project. NIC has helped FCI to select the Software Development Agency and accordingly NICSI has been requested to provide the Proforma Invoice for Software Development & Rollout. The project is to be implemented in a timeframe of six months from the date of signing of contract by NICSI with the Software Development Agency.
