Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that some 20 Central Ministries/Departments are involved in various Skill Development programmes. The targets and achievements by different Ministries/Departments for the period 2011-12 to 2014-15, as per information available with National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), are given at Annexure-I.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Rudy said, the XII Plan Document states that 50 million non-farm employment opportunities are proposed to be created and at least equivalent number of people would be provided skill certification in the country in the 12th Five Year Plan Period. As per this target, 32.9 million persons would have to be skilled between the period Jan 2015 to March 2017. NSDA in its interactions with State Governments has recommended that States should adopt that portion of the national target of skill development in proportion to their population.
