Schedule for General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir
The Election Commission of India vide its Press Note No. ECI/PN/51/2014, dated 25th October. 2014 has announced the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand, 2014 wherein the date for issue of Notification for first phase of Jharkhand has been scheduled as 29.10.2014 (Wednesday).
Now, it has been brought to the Election Commission of India’s notice that the Government of Jharkhand, under Section 25 of the Negotiable instrument Act, 1881, has declared the 29.10.2014 (Wednesday) as public holiday to celebrate ‘Surya Chhat’ instead of 28.10.2014 (Tuesday).
Accordingly, the Election Commission of India, having considered the matter and after taking into account all relevant facts and circumstances , has decided to reschedule the date for issuance of Notification for the first phase of the said election as 28.10.2014 (Tuesday) instead of 29.10.2014 (Wednesday). There shall be no change in the rest of the schedule.
