Sky Bus Metro and Self-stabilising Track technologies get U.S. Patents
The Sky Bus Metro and Self-stablising Track, indigenous technologies developed by the Konkan Railway Corporation, have received the U.S. Patent, thus making them globally acceptable technologies.
Konkan Railway has recently made a full-scale prototype of Sky Bus Metro at Madgaon, Goa and construction of 1.6 km. test track for the same is underway. Sky Bus Metro, a unique technology for urban mass transportation, is highly eco-friendly and cost effective.
The self-stablising track is another landmark technology of Konkan Railway which makes the railway track virtually maintenance-free. It lays the foundation for a faster, safer, economical and smoother rail transport. It is a unique design where the frequency response of the ballast is modified to get track stablised rather than be de-stablised under rail traffic. It also saves the amount of ballast normally required for railway track.
