Public Health Expenditure

As per the National Health Accounts Estimates, public expenditure on health in India during the latest three years for which data is  available is as under:

Government has taken many steps to provide better healthcare facilities across the country. Among others, major steps taken  are:

  • Launch of Ayushman Bharat, which comprises of two components –
    (i) Health and Wellness Centres to provide Comprehensive Primary Healthcare and  (ii)  Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provides health coverage of Rs. 5. lakhs per family, per annum,  to more than 10 crore poor and vulnerable families, for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

 

  • National Health Mission provides financial and technical support to States/UTs for accessible, affordable and quality healthcare in rural and urban areas. All States/UTs are supported for providing free services in maternal health, child health, adolescent health, universal immunization, family planning, communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis, HIV/ AIDS, vector borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue and Kala Azar, Leprosy etc. and non-communicable diseases,  provision of free drugs & diagnostics in public health facilities, PM National Dialysis programme etc.

 

The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Sh Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha here today.
