Ordnance Factory Board is Transforming from the Role of Manufacturer and Technology recipient to a System Integrator: Chairman OFB

Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) is transforming from the role of Manufacturer and Technology recipient to a System Integrator by enhancing its production portfolio and modernizing the production facilitates, said Chairman, OFB Shri S.K. Chourasia. He stated that a board and versatile production base with multiple technological capabilities and state-of-the-art Manufacturing facilities has been created to produce state-of-art Battle Field Equipments. Briefing the media to mark the 217th Ordnance Factories’ Day in KolkataToday, Shri Chourasia said that Make in India initiative has emerged as an important guiding principle in defence production. OFB’s Aim is to make India self- reliant in production of arms and ammunition, he added. He said that OFB has set high standard of indigenous manufacturing units and has achieved 87% over all indigenization. OFB has also developed the indigenous Defence Industrial Complex in the country by nurturing about 4,000 vendors, he added.
Shri Chourasia said that OFB has offered a 100 percent Indigenous solution against private competitors. OFB is presently developing major platforms like upgraded BMP-II, Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICB), Air Defence Gun and 155 MM x 52 Cal Mounted Gun System and related Ammunitions, among others, he added.
