Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh explores Sikkim's floral heritage at Ridge Park Orchidarium

Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, visited the Ridge Park Orchidarium in Gangtok today as part of his Sikkim tour.

He was joined by Shri Puran Kumar Gurung, Minister, Fisheries, AH & VS Departments, Govt. of Sikkim, along with Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Dept. of Fisheries, GoI, Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, Dept. of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GoI, Ms. Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary, Cattle & Dairy Development, GoI, Ms. Roshni Rai, Secretary, Fisheries, GoS, and senior officers of the Centre and State.

The Minister toured the Orchidarium and was apprised of its salient features, including the wide range of orchid species housed, their varied uses and age-old practices for their secure transportation.

Marking the visit, the Union Minister wrote his comments in the visitor's book.

Set up at the Swarna Jayanti Maitreya Manjari Complex, the Orchidarium showcases Sikkim's abundant floral diversity and its strong ethos of environmental protection. The conservation of indigenous orchids at the facility reaffirms the State's resolve towards habitat preservation and eco-friendly tourism.
