Posted On: 23 OCT 2026 7:21PM by PIB Delhi

The Department of Rural Development is implementing Special Campaign 6 under the guidance of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The campaign aims to institutionalise Swachhata, reduce pendency and dispose of e-waste. It was launched on 2 October 2026 with a pledge administered by Secretary (Rural Development), followed by Shramdaan at Kartavya Bhavan-03.

Between 2 and 23 October, the Department achieved 100% of its targets for cleanliness campaigns and IMC references. It reached 77% for public grievance appeals, 76% for physical file review, 69% for public grievances and 63% for e-file review. Progress stood at 60% for Parliament assurances, 51% for references from MPs, 50% for State Government references and 33% for PMO references.

So far, 690 physical files have been weeded out and 1,177 e-files closed. The Department's store at India Habitat Centre was also cleared of unused furniture and equipment. Disposal of e-waste and unused furniture is expected to generate about ₹15.29 lakh and free up 43,186 sq ft of office space.

Other activities included the Nirmal Desk Challenge, distribution of indoor plants and anti-tobacco awareness. Essay and poster competitions were held, and Safaimitras were felicitated. On 22 October, the Department held a health camp in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for over 250 outsourced staff, including Safai Karamcharis. The camp offered blood pressure, blood sugar, eye and ENT check-ups.

The Department aims to achieve 100% of its targets by 31 October 2026.
