Agricultural University Organises Farmer Awareness and Training Programme
Farmers sensitised on Natural Farming and Surveillance & Biointensive Management
of Tuta absoluta

Palampur, October 8, 2026. Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur, organised a one-day farmer awareness-cum-training programme at Village and Gram Panchayat Suri, Development Block and Tehsil Amb, District Una, through its Research Sub-Station Akrot. The programme was chaired by Dr. Janardhan Singh, Director Extension Education, CSKHPKV, Palampur.
Around 70 farmers participated in the programme. Addressing the farmers, Dr. Janardhan Singh elaborated on various aspects of natural farming, its significance, key
principles and potential for farmers. He encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable and environment-friendly agricultural practices for long-term farm productivity and
sustainability.
The programme also provided an opportunity for farmers to interact with experts and seek clarification on various aspects of natural farming and other agricultural practices. The programme aimed at creating awareness among farmers about modern, sustainable and climate-friendly agricultural technologies and providing them with practical knowledge for their adoption at the farm level. Dr. Praveen Sharma, In-charge Scientist, Research Sub- Station Akrot, and Dr. Saurabh Sharma were also present during the programme.
Earlier, under the guidance of Dr. Janardhan Singh, Director Extension Education, similar one-day awareness-cum-training programmes had been organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Hamirpur and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Una under the RKVY Project on “Surveillance and Biointensive Management of Tuta absoluta in Himachal Pradesh.” More than 150 farmers were sensitised through these programmes about the surveillance and biointensive management of Tuta absoluta. These programmes were coordinated by Dr. Pankaj Sood, Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mandi, with active participation and support from the Programme Coordinators and scientists of KVK Hamirpur and KVK Una.
