A joint anti-encroachment drive was carried out on October 5, 2026, along Forest Avenue Road, stretching from Boria Gate of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) to J.P. Cement Chowk, Sector-4. The drive targeted unauthorized encroachments by fruit vendors and truck drivers. Conducted through the coordinated efforts of the Enforcement Section under BSP’s Town Services Department and the Bhilai Traffic Police, the 90-minute operation ran from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM to clear the area of obstructions.

The key objective of the drive was to clear the road and its shoulders of encroachments, ensuring safe and smooth vehicular movement. During the operation, fruit vendors and truck drivers were given strict warnings and instructions against illegally setting up stalls or parking vehicles along the roadside. The joint team highlighted that such unauthorized activities disrupt traffic flow and cause severe inconvenience to commuters.

During the drive, it was observed that some BSP employees returning from office and plant duties after the shift ended were parking their vehicles along the roadside. The team instructed these employees to refrain from parking on the road and to assist in maintaining orderly traffic. Furthermore, registration numbers of the non-compliant vehicles were logged for potential regulatory action as per rules.

The joint team briefed all stakeholders on adhering to road safety guidelines and keeping the area organized. Administration officials affirmed that continuous monitoring will be maintained along Forest Avenue Road to prevent the recurrence of encroachments, and follow-up anti-encroachment drives will be conducted periodically to ensure an obstruction-free traffic flow.
