Department of Pharmaceuticals Organises Shramdaan under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’

The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, actively participated in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 Campaign, being jointly organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) from 17th September to 2nd October, 2026.

As part of the nationwide initiative “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath”, a one-hour voluntary Shramdaan was organised by the Department near Shastri Bhawan, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Marg, New Delhi, today. Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, led the Shramdaan by administering Swachhata pledge to senior officers and staff. The Department officers and staff participated with enthusiasm and dedication in cleaning and clearing the public place thereby reaffirming the spirit of collective action embodied in the campaign.The campaign is being observed under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag – Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”, with the objective of promoting cleanliness through public participation and collective responsibility.


The Secretary planted a sapling as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and participated in the Signature Drive, encouraging greater awareness and participation towards cleanliness.

The cleanliness drive is part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign, which seeks to strengthen Jan Bhagidari and encourage citizens to actively contribute towards cleanliness efforts across the country. The campaign underscores that lasting cleanliness is not only an institutional responsibility but also a shared societal commitment requiring sustained public participation and collective action at the community level.

The Department of Pharmaceuticals reiterated its commitment to the objectives of Swachh Bharat and highlighted the close linkage between cleanliness, public health and healthy living. The Department emphasised that sustained awareness, responsible waste management and active citizen participation are essential for creating cleaner, healthier and more sustainable public spaces.
