The initiative has been conceived in the context of the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and seeks to provide NSS volunteers with an opportunity to reflect on their aspirations, experiences and role in the journey towards 2047.

Under the initiative, present and former NSS volunteers may write a handwritten letter addressed to their future selves in 2047. The letter may include personal aspirations, memories and experiences associated with NSS, expectations for India in 2047, personal goals, reflections and thoughts on contributing to society and nation-building.

The letters received by the Regional Directorate of NSS, Kolkata, will be preserved until 2047. The letters will subsequently be opened and posted to the respective recipients on September 24, 2047 in Viksit Bharat, at the postal addresses furnished by the participants.

The initiative will create a collection of handwritten messages reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of NSS volunteers in 2026 and provide participants an opportunity to reconnect with their younger selves after 21 years.
