On Wednesday, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur marked an important milestone with the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony for the first phase of development of its Dehradun campus at Sudhowala. Chief Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, Shri Anand Bardhan, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Director, IIM Kashipur, Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi, along with other officials of the institute and invited guests, were also present on the occasion.

The initiative marks an important step towards strengthening IIM Kashipur’s presence in Dehradun. As the institute completes nearly 15 years of its journey, the Dehradun campus is envisioned as a centre for expanding academic, executive education, entrepreneurship and outreach activities.

IIM Kashipur has approximately five acres of land at Sudhowala. To make the campus operational at the earliest, the institute is developing a prefabricated facility in the initial phase, comprising modern classrooms and office spaces. The project is being implemented by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The campus will subsequently be developed in phases in accordance with the academic and institutional requirements of the institute.

In the initial phase, the facility will support IIM Kashipur’s Executive MBA, executive education and management development activities. The campus will also accommodate the institute’s Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (FIED), its incubation centre aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.

On the occasion, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, Shri Anand Bardhan, extended his best wishes to the institute for this new phase. He said that expanding the institute’s presence in the state is an important step and expressed confidence that through this new facility, IIM Kashipur would make a greater and more meaningful contribution to education and development in Uttarakhand.

Director, IIM Kashipur, Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi, said that the development of the Dehradun campus marks an important milestone in the growth of the institute. He said that IIM Kashipur’s presence in the state capital would strengthen its engagement with the government, industry, entrepreneurs and academic institutions. He added that the institute is beginning with a facility that will enable it to commence operations at the earliest, while the campus will be progressively developed as an important centre for executive education, outreach and future academic initiatives.

In the long term, IIM Kashipur may also explore the possibility of establishing future academic initiatives in Dehradun, such as undergraduate or integrated management education programmes, subject to the institute’s academic plans and necessary approvals.

The development of the Dehradun campus is not limited to the construction of a new facility but also marks the beginning of IIM Kashipur’s long-term institutional presence in Dehradun. The initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to creating new opportunities for learning, professional development, entrepreneurship and economic participation in Uttarakhand.
