A total of 216 selected candidates from the Raipur centre were issued appointment letters to various Central Government ministries and departments during the 20th National Rozgar Mela on Saturday. Of these, 133 candidates received their appointment letters in person, while 83 were issued appointment letters through the virtual mode.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu handed over appointment letters to the selected candidates at a ceremony held at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Science College Campus, Raipur.

Addressing more than 51,000 newly appointed recruits across 45 centres nationwide through a virtual programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi described entry into government service as an important opportunity for young people to serve the nation. He called upon the newly appointed personnel to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, transparency and dedication.

The state-level ceremony in Raipur was organised by the Income Tax Department, Chhattisgarh. Speaking on the occasion, Sahu said that more than 12.75 lakh youths had been appointed to various ministries and organisations of the Central Government through the Rozgar Mela initiative since its launch on October 22, 2022.

He said the government was creating employment opportunities for young people through various schemes and initiatives while also encouraging them to become job creators.

Referring to initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Startup India and Make in India, Sahu said these programmes had opened up new opportunities for young entrepreneurs. He also highlighted efforts to empower artisans and small business owners through the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi).

Government Service Must Become a Means of Public Welfare

Addressing the newly appointed personnel, Sahu said appointment letters represented not merely a means of livelihood but also a responsibility to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. He emphasised that government service should not remain confined to office files and administrative procedures, but must ensure that the benefits of governance reach the last person in society.

He urged the recruits to perform their duties with sincerity, sensitivity and dedication, keeping public welfare at the centre of their work.

Department-wise Distribution of Appointment Letters

Of the 133 candidates who received appointment letters in person at the Raipur centre, 74 were from the Income Tax Department, 22 from the Department of Posts, 14 from the Railways, 12 from the Department of Financial Services, seven from the Ministry of Home Affairs, three from the Geological Survey of India and one from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

Among the 83 candidates issued appointment letters through the virtual mode, 82 were from the Income Tax Department and one from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

Senior officials of the Income Tax Department and other Central Government departments, public representatives, selected candidates and their family members attended the ceremony.
