In a significant conviction that reinforces NCB’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jaipur Zonal Unit, has successfully secured the conviction of two accused persons involved in the illegal transportation of 10.290 kilograms of Opium, in violation of the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The Hon’ble Court at Merta, in an important narcotic drug trafficking case registered by the NCB Jaipur Zonal Unit, convicted accused Rajmal Agarwal S/o Keshar Singh, resident of Village Dhamaniya, District Neemuch (M.P.) and Davender Kumar Gayri S/o Shivlal Dhangar Gayri, resident of Village Ranpur, District Neemuch (M.P.), and sentenced each of them to 12 years’ imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,25,000/-.

On 12.03.2020, acting upon specific intelligence, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jaipur Zonal Unit intercepted a Honda Brio car bearing registration number RJ-19-CE-5860 near the Railway Phatak, Ren, Merta Road, Tehsil Merta City, District Nagaur, Rajasthan. During the search, a total of 10.290 kilograms of Opium was recovered from the vehicle and seized in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The seizure proceedings and other statutory formalities were conducted at Police Chowki Ren, Merta Road, Nagaur.

In this regard, a case was registered vide Crime No. 08/2020/JZU under Sections 8, 18, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Three accused persons, namely Rajmal Agarwal, Kamlesh Kumar Barola and Davender Kumar Gayri, were arrested on 12.03.2020.

After completion of investigation, a complaint was filed before the Hon’ble Court at Merta on 08.09.2020, which was registered as Session Court Case No. 44/2020. During the course of trial, the prosecution examined 11 witnesses and produced oral, documentary and material evidence in support of the case.

The seized Honda Brio car bearing registration number RJ-19-CE-5860, used for transportation of the contraband, was subsequently auctioned on 14.07.2021 in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

After considering all the evidence and arguments, the Hon’ble Court, vide judgment dated 10.09.2026, found two accused persons guilty and sentenced them as follows:

1. Rajmal Agarwal: 12 years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,25,000/-.
2. Davender Kumar Gayri: 12 years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,25,000/-.

The third accused, Kamlesh Kumar Barola, was acquitted by the Hon’ble Court.

This conviction sends an unequivocal message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated. The diligent investigation and prosecution by the NCB Jaipur Zonal Unit have ensured that justice is delivered, protecting communities from the devastating consequences of narcotic drug abuse.
