NIT Raipur Inaugurates National Short-Term Training Programme on Advanced Applied Mathematics and Quantum Cryptography
Five-day national training initiative draws 66 domestic and international participants to explore nonlinear dynamics, fractal geometry, and real-world computational modelling

The Department of Mathematics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur, in collaboration with the institute’s Continuing Education Cell (CEC), inaugurated a five-day National Level Short Term Training Programme (STTP) today. Titled "Frontiers in Applied Mathematics: Modelling, Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos, Fractal Geometry, and Quantum Cryptography (FMNCFQ-2026)," the programme runs from September 7 to September 11, 2026, bringing together 65 researchers and faculty members from across various Indian states alongside an international participant from Ethiopia.

Presiding over the event as Chief Patron, Prof. Samir Bajpai, Director (In-Charge), NIT Raipur, urged participants to look beyond abstract theoretical principles by actively engaging with computational software and cross-disciplinary applications. He emphasized that the true measure of the programme’s success will lie in tangible outcomes such as collaborative publications, sponsored research projects, and lasting academic networks. Arvind Kumar Gupta from IIT Ropar commended the initiative, highlighting the critical role of chaos theory, nonlinear systems, and quantum cryptographic security in resolving modern technological and scientific challenges.
Guest of Honour Prof. Narendra D. Londhe, Registrar of NIT Raipur, addressed the complexity of contemporary engineering systems, encouraging attendees to leverage the growing convergence between mathematics, artificial intelligence, signal processing, and physics. Prof. Subhojit Ghosh, Chairman of the Continuing Education Programme, and Dr. Sujit Kumar Samanta, Head of the Department of Mathematics, highlighted how applied mathematics fosters critical analytical thinking and provides robust frameworks for addressing real-world industrial and biological problems.
Earlier in the ceremony, STTP Coordinators Dr. Sharada Nandan Raw and Dr. Deepmala Sharma welcomed the delegates and outlined the academic structure of the programme, emphasizing practical mathematical modelling in modern fields such as biology and physical sciences. The inaugural session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Coordinator Dr. Lavudya Bhaskar.
