UIDAI OPENS AADHAAR SEVA KENDRA AT BARPETA TO ENHANCE ACCESS TO AADHAAR SERVICES

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) today opened a state-of-the-art Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) at Barpeta, Assam, to provide residents with easier and more convenient access to Aadhaar enrolment and update services. Located at Sarbananda Road, near Old Bus Stand, opposite Veterinary Hospital, Muslimpatty, Barpeta, the centre has five operational kits and services such as Aadhaar enrolment, demographic and biometric updates, grievance redressal are available at the centre.

The centre was inaugurated by Shri Dipak Kumar Das, MLA, Barpeta Assembly Constituency, in the presence of Shri Pranjal Pratim Konwar, Additional District Commissioner and Aadhaar Nodal Officer, Barpeta District and Lt. Col. Swapan Kumar Saxena, Director, UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati, along with other distinguished guests.

During the inauguration, Shri Dipak Kumar Das interacted with residents visiting the centre and the staff of the ASK. He enquired about the Aadhaar enrolment and update procedures and reviewed the facilities available at the centre. He appreciated UIDAI’s initiative and appealed to the people of Barpeta and adjoining areas to make use of the newly opened centre for Aadhaar-related services.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Col. Swapan Kumar Saxena, Director, UIDAI, stressed the importance of achieving saturation of Aadhaar enrolment in Barpeta district. He also highlighted the need for Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children between 5 and 17 years of age. He said that timely biometric updates are important to ensure that Aadhaar remains active and to facilitate uninterrupted access to services requiring Aadhaar authentication. He particularly highlighted its importance for students who need Aadhaar authentication for various purposes, including registration for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE.

A Token Management System (TMS) is available for residents who wish to visit the Regional Office in person for grievance registration and resolution. Under the system, residents can book a convenient date and time online before visiting the office, helping them avoid unnecessary waiting. UIDAI has already established Aadhaar Seva Kendras in Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon and Silchar. To further expand access to Aadhaar services across Assam, additional ASKs are planned in Nagaon, Rangia, Dhubri and Goalpara districts.
