NIFT joint convocation 2026 held in presence of Hon’ble President of India

A total of 315 graduating students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai participated in the NIFT Joint Convocation 2026 held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, on 31 August 2026. The Convocation brought together graduating students from 18 NIFT campuses across the country to celebrate their academic achievements and mark the beginning of their professional journeys.
The Convocation was graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, as the Chief Guest. The Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh; Secretary (Textiles), Smt. Neelam Shami Rao; Director General, NIFT, Smt. Tanu Kashyap, IAS; members of the Board of Governors; Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Khare, Director, NIFT Mumbai; Directors of NIFT campuses and other distinguished dignitaries were also present.

Addressing the graduating students, the Hon’ble President encouraged them to remain globally competitive while staying connected with India’s cultural heritage and values. She appreciated NIFT’s Craft Cluster Initiative for supporting weavers and artisans through design and market linkages. She also stressed the importance of sustainability, use of local materials and recycling of textile waste. The President called upon the graduates to support traditional artisans and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through innovation, social responsibility and inclusive growth.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles urged the graduates to dream big, work hard and contribute to the development of a Viksit Bharat. The Secretary (Textiles) congratulated the students and encouraged them to pursue continuous learning and skill development.
The ceremony also recognised the achievements of NIFT Mumbai students through 10 Gold Medals, 31 Graduation Show Awards and 16 Meritorious Awards for excellence, creativity, innovation and professional merit.
The Director General, NIFT, administered the pledge and symbolically conferred the degrees. Campus-wise degree distribution ceremonies were subsequently held. The Convocation concluded with the National Song and National Anthem.
