IIT Bhilai Launches Hindi Month to Promote Wider Use of Official Language
Month-long programme to feature essay writing, poetry, debates, quizzes and other creative competitions

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai inaugurated ‘Hindi Month’ on Tuesday to promote awareness, interest and respect for the Hindi language and encourage its wider use in institutional activities. A series of competitions and programmes will be organised at the institute throughout the month.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. To encourage the use of Hindi and foster greater interest in the language among officers, employees and students, the institute will organise essay writing, self-composed poetry, Kavi Sammelan, extempore speech, debate, quiz and other creative competitions. The initiatives will provide participants with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent. Winners and outstanding performers will be presented first, second and third prizes along with certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of IIT Bhilai Prof. Rajiv Prakash said Hindi is a powerful medium of India’s rich cultural heritage and emotional unity. He said the observance of Hindi Month was an important initiative to enhance awareness and interest in Hindi at the institute and promote its greater use in day-to-day official work.
Prof. Prakash urged officers, employees and students to participate enthusiastically in the competitions and contribute to the promotion and wider use of Hindi. The programme was attended by the Joint Registrar, Officer-in-Charge (Hindi), members of the Official Language Cell and other officers, employees and members of the institute.
IIT Bhilai has been making continuous efforts to promote Hindi and ensure its effective use as the Official Language. The month-long observance is aimed at creating a positive, encouraging and inspiring environment for the use of Hindi across the institute.
