CBC Agartala organized Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita held at Berimura Higher Secondary School, Bamutia, West Tripura

Agartala, 28 August, 2026: The Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Agartala, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, organized an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on the themes Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 at Berimura Higher Secondary School, Bamutia, West Tripura, on 28 August 2026.

Shri Dipak Kumar Singh, Chairperson, Bamutia Panchayat Samiti, Bamutia RD Block, West Tripura, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Ms. Kamala Sundari Debbarma, Principal, Berimura H.S. School, was present as the Guest of Honour, Shri Debasish Lodh, Rtd. Assistant Director, Department of ICA, Agartala, attended the programme as the Resource Person. Other dignitaries present in the programme were Shri Milan Gupta, Teacher-in-charge, Berimura H.S. School, Bamutia, and Shri Badal Chandra Das, Senior Journalist, Manush Patrika.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of creating awareness among students and young people about social issues that directly affect individuals, families and communities. They highlighted the need for greater awareness about the harmful consequences of drug and substance abuse and encouraged the youth to adopt healthy, responsible and productive lifestyles. The speakers also stressed the importance of understanding the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, so that young citizens are aware of their rights, responsibilities and the legal framework of the country. The programme sought to empower students with knowledge and encourage them to become responsible citizens and active contributors to a safer, healthier and more informed society.

Shri Debasish Lodh, Resource Person, spoke in detail on the significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He highlighted the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse on individuals, families and society at large. He stressed the crucial role of young people in the campaign to build a drug-free India and urged the students to spread awareness about the adverse consequences of substance abuse. He also encouraged them to make healthy choices and promote positive, productive and responsible lifestyles among their peers.

Speaking on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Shri Lodh stressed the importance of citizens, particularly young people, understanding its basic features and key provisions. He highlighted provisions aimed at strengthening the protection of women and children and explained that several legal provisions have been presented in a more accessible and simplified manner. He also emphasized the stringent provisions relating to offences against women and urged the students to remain aware of their legal rights and responsibilities.

Saptarshi Kala Kendra, a Private Registered Troupe from Karimganj, Assam, presented dance and drama performances based on the themes of the programme. The performances effectively conveyed messages on the prevention of drug and substance abuse.

An open quiz competition was also organized as part of the programme to enhance students’ awareness and encourage their active participation. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition.
