BIS Haryana Branch Office Conducts Search & Seizure Operation at Rohtak, Haryana

The Haryana Branch Office (HRBO) of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a Search and Seizure (S&S) Operation on 25 August 2026 at M/s Jainalco Industries Limited, Rohtak, Haryana, based on suspected violation of Section 17(3) of the BIS Act, 2016.
During the operation, the firm was found to be in possession of Aluminium Foils for Pharmaceutical Purposes, covered under Indian Standard IS 16011, without a valid BIS licence, despite the product being covered under the applicable Quality Control Order (QCO).
As part of the enforcement action, approximately 250 rolls of Aluminium Foils, having a total weight of approximately 3 tonnes and an estimated value of around ₹14 lakh, were seized by the BIS team.
The Search and Seizure operation was carried out by a BIS team comprising:
● Sh. Anant Kumar, Scientist-C / Deputy Director
● Sh. Sourabh Chandra, Scientist-C / Deputy Director
● Sh. Manish Bisht, Scientist-B / Assistant Director
The operation was successfully conducted in accordance with the planned objectives. The findings and evidence gathered during the operation will form the basis for further enforcement and legal action, as deemed appropriate under the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016 and applicable rules.
The Director & Head of Haryana Branch Office, BIS Smt. Madhurima Madhav, stated, “The very purpose of the QCO for Aluminium Foils for Pharmaceutical Purposes is to protect public health by ensuring the quality of these products. BIS will continue to take necessary enforcement action wherever the requirements are not followed and will remain committed to upholding quality, reliability and safety for consumers.”
