NEHARI, Brahmaputra Board Conducts Training Workshop on “E-Procurement and GeM” as Part of Three-Month Capacity Building Campaign

The North Eastern Hydraulic and Allied Research Institute (NEHARI), Brahmaputra Board, in collaboration with the National Water Academy (NWA), Pune, conducted a four-day training workshop on “E-Procurement and GeM” from August 18th to 21st , 2026 at NEHARI, Guwahati.
The workshop was organised as part of the three-month Capacity Building Campaign from 17th August to 16th November 2026, being undertaken as a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2026. The campaign aims to strengthen ethical practices, integrity, transparency and professional capacity among officers involved in public procurement.
The workshop was conducted under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Ranbir Singh, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, Brahmaputra Board. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. Ranjit Deka, Director, NEHARI, who highlighted the increasing importance of e-procurement and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) in ensuring transparent, efficient and effective procurement practices. Shri Ankit Dudeja, Director, NWA, Pune, also graced the inaugural session.
The four-day programme included comprehensive lectures and hands-on sessions on various aspects of government procurement. The sessions covered the rules and procedures for government procurement, Fundamental Principles and Code of Integrity for Public Procurement, relevant provisions of GFR, 2017, Delegation of Financial Powers, procurement of goods, works and services, CVC and CCI guidelines, tendering procedures, bid evaluation, technical and financial acceptance, and award of work through GeM and the CPP Portal. A total of 20 participants from the Brahmaputra Board and the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) were awarded certificates for successful completion of the training programme.
Resource persons and guest faculty from the Central Water Commission (CWC), Adabari, and the National Water Academy (NWA), Pune, delivered lectures and conducted practical sessions during the programme.
The training programme concluded with a valedictory session attended by Dr. Ranjit Deka, Director, NEHARI; Shri G. L. Bansal, Chief Engineer (Retd.), CWC; and Shri Goverdhan Prasad, Chief Engineer, CWC, Adabari, Assam. The session reviewed the key learnings and outcomes of the four-day training programme.
