IIM Sambalpur Welcomes the Second Batch of B.S. Programmes in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and Management & Public Policy.

The Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur (IIM Sambalpur) commenced the second batch of its four-year Bachelor of Science (B.S.) programmes in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DS&AI) and Management & Public Policy (M&PP), 2026–2030, with an inaugural ceremony held at the Konark Auditorium, IIM Sambalpur.

The inaugural session was graced by Hon’ble Justice Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Member, National Human Rights Commission, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students, Justice Sarangi emphasised the importance of ethical leadership, constitutional values, social responsibility and a strong commitment to public service in shaping the future of India.

The session was presided over by Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, who welcomed the new cohort and outlined the Institute’s vision of nurturing socially responsible, technologically adept and globally competitive graduates. In his address, Prof. Jaiswal highlighted the case method, learning approach being use in IIM Sambalpur with example of Green Revolution, White Revolution ,Space Revolution, AI Revolution.

The programme also featured Shri Himanshu Lal, IPS, IG Police, Northern Range, and Mr. Mahesh Agrawal, Head of IT & Data, SBI General Insurance, as Guests of Honour, while Mr. Omar Abdullah Khan, Head of Analytics, Standard Chartered Bank, delivered the Keynote Address.

Expert Session: Industry Perspectives

A major highlight was the Expert Session, featuring professionals and leaders from IBM Consulting Advantage, Reliance Industries, All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association, Coursera, Unilever, Accenture, McKinsey and AfterBoards.

The session offered students valuable insights into Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, analytics, digital transformation, consulting, entrepreneurship and the future of work. For M&PP students, the discussions highlighted the intersection of management, technology, governance, public policy and data-driven decision-making.

The commencement of the second batch reinforces IIM Sambalpur’s commitment to interdisciplinary, future-oriented undergraduate education. Through academic rigour, industry engagement, experiential learning and global exposure, the Institute aims to equip the 2026–2030 cohort with the knowledge, skills and values required to become responsible leaders and effective problem-solvers.
