In an important step towards expanding access to quality, affordable and cashless tertiary healthcare services in West Bengal, Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) was operationalised at AIIMS Kalyani today (18/8/26). On the inaugural day of AB-PMJAY services, AIIMS Kalyani registered its first patient holding an AB-PMJAY card issued in West Bengal. A total of four patients were registered for inpatient treatment under the scheme today.
AB-PMJAY and Swasthya Sathi are now both functional at AIIMS Kalyani. This will facilitate access to specialised healthcare services for beneficiaries, particularly those requiring hospitalisation and advanced medical treatment.
Executive director, AIIMS Kalyani, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Sinha congratulated officers, faculty members, nursing officers, administrative staff, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras and other personnel involved in implementation of the scheme.
Operationalisation of AB-PMJAY at AIIMS Kalyani reflects the union government’s commitment to strengthening accessible, equitable and patient-centric healthcare services. The initiative will enable beneficiaries in West Bengal and adjoining regions to access high-quality healthcare without financial hardship, advancing the vision of universal health coverage.
