BHARAT TAXI - COOPERATIVE-MODEL MOBILITY PLATFORM

Bharat Taxi, a cooperative-led digital App mobility platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), a multistate cooperative society is officially launched in the cities of Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. As on 04.08.2026, the platform has 8.48 lakh registered Sarathis (drivers) and 44.27 lakh registered customers.

The rollout of services of Bharat Taxi in other cities and States is taken by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) subject to operational requirements and necessary approvals. Expansion is undertaken based on factors such as operational preparedness, availability of Sarathis, completion of statutory requirements, and coordination with the concerned State Governments, cooperative institutions, and other stakeholders.

Bharat Taxi has adopted a cooperative-led operating framework to ensure affordability, transparency, and driver welfare. Key measures include:

  1.  Adoption of a zero-commission model for drivers;
  2.  Transparent and predictable fare structures without hidden charges;
  3.  Subscription-based participation to stabilise driver earnings
  4.  Facilitation of social security measures such as insurance coverage and welfare linkages for driver-members; and
  5. Expansion through collaboration with State Governments, cooperative institutions, and public bodies to enhance adoption and accessibility.

Bharat Taxi, run by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) is registered under the provisions of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002. The Society functions in accordance with the provisions of the Act and its registered Bye-laws. No financial support has been provided by the Government for expansion of  Bharat Taxi platform.
