An exclusive awareness session regarding the implementation and key opportunities of the 4 new Labour Codes was successfully conducted today at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) LPG Bottling Plant in Solur, organized by the Office of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Government of India, Bengaluru. Shri S.K. Mohanty, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), led the meeting along with officials from the Bengaluru region.

The main objective of the program was to create awareness among the management staff and contractors regarding the upcoming statutory compliance requirements and labour welfare measures under the revised legal framework. Over 30 delegates participated in the program. Shri S.K. Manickavasagam, Manager of the BPCL Solur Plant, along with BPCL management staff and representatives of various contractors, were present.

Detailed information regarding the key aspects covered under the four Labour Codes was provided during the program. Explanations were given on statutory wage definitions, rules related to minimum wages and allowances, Fixed-Term Employment (FTE), as well as social security and service benefits for fixed-term employees on par with regular workers. Enhanced protections for women workers, medical facilities, maternity benefits, and social security were also discussed. Under the unified code framework, contractor representatives were instructed to maintain compliance with worker safety, statutory wage payments, and social security documentation.

Operational questions related to day-to-day statutory compliance and the transitional period were addressed. Additionally, information regarding the provisions of the Ministry of Labour and Employment's 'Shram Suvidha Portal' and 'Samadhan Portal' was provided during the meeting.
