Entrepreneurship Development Programme Successfully Concludes at NIELIT Imphal

The Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), organised under the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) of the Manipur StartUp Scheme, successfully concluded at NIELIT Imphal on 8th August 2026. The programme, conducted from 3rd to 8th August 2026, aimed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to establish and manage sustainable business enterprises.

A total of 180 participants from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul and Senapati districts participated in the programme. The sessions covered the major stages of entrepreneurship, including opportunity identification, innovation, statutory compliance, intellectual property rights, financial management, bank financing, digital marketing, government support schemes, and business planning and investor engagement.

On the first day, Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei of Manipur University delivered a session on developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Dr. Kharibam Somorendro Singh conducted a session on identifying viable business opportunities and encouraged the participants to explore innovative and locally relevant enterprise ideas.

On 4th August, Prof. L. Jibon Kumar of the Manipur Institute of Management Studies, Manipur University, delivered a session on the seven sources of innovation. Shri Roshni Kumar Yambem, Founder and Managing Director of Globiz Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd., spoke on the differences between self-employment and business ownership and shared practical insights from his entrepreneurial journey.

The sessions held on 5th August focused on the legal and regulatory aspects of establishing an enterprise. Ksh. Bikramjit Singh, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur, explained the legal formalities and statutory compliance requirements for businesses. Leimapokpam Surjit Singh, Research Scientist (IPR), MASTEC, delivered a session on intellectual property rights and highlighted the importance of protecting business ideas, innovations, trademarks and other intellectual assets.

On 6th August, Puyam Surchand Singh, Managing Director of Siroi Financial Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., conducted a session on financial management, accounting and banking services. Oinam Khogendro Singh, Senior Branch Manager, Bank of India, Imphal Branch, explained bank-loan disbursement procedures, credit schemes for start-ups, financial documentation and working-capital management.

The sessions on 7th August focused on technology-enabled business promotion and government support for entrepreneurs. Kh. Veeshel Singh, Assistant Professor at NIELIT Imphal, delivered a session on digital marketing, AI-based branding and the effective use of social media for business growth. Dr. Sinam Yoirentomba, Deputy Director, MSME Technology Centre, Imphal, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, spoke about MSME schemes and the various forms of institutional support available to entrepreneurs.

The concluding sessions on 8th August focused on preparing the participants to present and refine their business proposals. Sapam Shyamananda, Delivery Head at Tata Consultancy Services, conducted an interactive session on pitching skills, elevator pitches, communication skills and investor-engagement strategies. He also guided the participants in finalising their business plans, verifying the required documentation and preparing for the subsequent common event. Devson Yenkhom, Managing Director of Tashi Interior, delivered a session on business management and shared practical insights into managing and sustaining an enterprise.

The programme provided participants with opportunities to interact directly with experts from academia, industry, government departments, financial institutions and technical organisations. Through expert lectures, practical discussions and business-plan preparation, the participants gained a better understanding of the procedures involved in transforming innovative ideas into viable enterprises.

The successful completion of the programme marked an important step towards promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment among the youth of Manipur. NIELIT Imphal expressed its appreciation to all the experts, participating organisations and trainees for their valuable contributions and active participation throughout the programme.
