The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) have recognised the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Kolkata, Ministry of Education, Government of India, as an Awarding Body (Dual).

With this recognition, NITTTR Kolkata will be eligible to award, assess and certify learners where training is directly imparted by the Awarding Body in campuses or training centres owned or fully managed by it for its approved or adopted qualifications.

The agreement signing ceremony was chaired by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Executive Member, NCVET, Shri Niranjan Kumar Sudhansu. The ceremony was also attended by Director (Recognition), NCVET, Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati; Director (Monitoring), NCVET, Lt. Col. Saurabh S. Bisht; Director, NITTTR Kolkata, Prof. V.M.S.R. Murthy; and Professor and Head, CE, NITTTR Kolkata, Prof. Naveen B.P.

NCVET have approved the first qualification developed by NITTTR Kolkata titled “Fundamentals of Soil Testing.” The programme has been designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in soil investigation, laboratory testing procedures, interpretation of soil properties, quality control practices and the application of Indian Standards relevant to geotechnical engineering.

The qualification aims to bridge the growing demand for skilled manpower in the construction, infrastructure, transportation and geotechnical sectors by equipping learners with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills.

The programme supports the national vision of strengthening technical and vocational education through competency-based training aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
