The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bhopal Branch Office, has granted India's first BIS Certification Licence for Electronic Locks for Security Equipment — Specifications (IS 19461:2025) to M/s TUCHWARE TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED on 13 July 2026.

The certification has been granted after successful completion of the BIS certification process, including assessment of the manufacturing facility, evaluation of the factory quality control system, and independent testing of product samples to verify conformity with the requirements specified in IS 19461:2025. The standard specifies the features, specifications and alarm notification requirements for electronic locks used on security equipment intended for storing currency, precious metals and important documents, or used as access control systems to secure premises. It establishes the minimum requirements for electronic locks to provide users with an adequate level of security.

The grant of the first licence under IS 19461:2025 marks a significant milestone in the implementation of this newly published Indian Standard. It reflects the commitment of Indian manufacturers towards adopting Indian Standards and manufacturing products that conform to national quality benchmarks, thereby strengthening the country's quality ecosystem.

During the certification process, BIS Bhopal Branch Office worked closely with the manufacturer by providing technical guidance and facilitating certification in accordance with the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme. The successful completion of product evaluation, factory assessment, testing and compliance verification resulted in the grant of the country's first licence under this standard.

On this occasion, Shri Mohammad Rizwan, Scientist-E/ Director & Head, BIS Bhopal Branch Office, congratulated M/s TUCHWARE TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED on achieving this milestone. He stated that the issuance of the first licence under IS 19461:2025 demonstrates the growing commitment of Indian industry towards quality, standardization and consumer confidence. He further emphasized that BIS remains committed to supporting manufacturers in the adoption of Indian Standards and facilitating timely certification while ensuring the availability of quality-assured products conforming to Indian Standards.

The Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Standards Body of India under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, continues to strengthen the quality ecosystem through standardization, certification, testing and consumer awareness initiatives. BIS encourages manufacturers to obtain certification for products covered under applicable Indian Standards and advises consumers to look for the ISI Mark, which signifies that the product conforms to the applicable Indian Standard under the BIS certification scheme.
