Awareness Workshop on Strengthening of Medical Device Industry (SMDI) Scheme
Reaffirming Commitment to a Robust Medical Devices Ecosystem

As part of its continued efforts to strengthen India's medical devices ecosystem, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in collaboration with the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), New Delhi, and C-CAMP, Bengaluru, organised a workshop on the Strengthening of Medical Device Industry (SMDI) Scheme. Held at the C-CAMP campus in Bengaluru, the workshop brought together around 150 representatives from the medical devices industry, providing a platform to enhance awareness about the Scheme and encourage stakeholder participation.

Shri Hitendra Sahu, Director, Department of Pharmaceuticals explained key features, objectives, and opportunities available under the SMDI Scheme. The session also included an interactive question-and-answer discussion, enabling industry stakeholders to seek clarifications and engage directly with officials on various aspects of the Scheme.

The workshop reaffirmed the Department's commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening India's medical devices ecosystem and supporting industry through collaborative initiatives under the SMDI Scheme.
