In a major effort to bridge the gap between agricultural policy and ground-level farming realities, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Churachandpur, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre actively participated in a nationwide live poll organized during the prestigious ICAR CSR Conclave 2026. Leveraging the Government of India’s digital platform, Kisan Sarathi, this joint digital initiative succeeded in gathering direct, real-time insights from the farming community across various regions demonstrating the platform's ability to capture remote rural data instantaneously. The live poll witnessed enthusiastic engagement, drawing a consolidated total of 350 participating farmers across the featured districts. Notably, the data revealed a strong demographic shift with a commendable majority of female participation, counting 183 female farmers alongside 167 male farmers. To ensure complete inclusivity and remove communication barriers, the interactive poll was deployed in multiple regional languages. This allowed the community to comfortably voice their current field challenges, providing crucial baseline data on crop sowing patterns, the balanced use of fertilizers, and the accuracy of local rainfall information. Furthermore, the questionnaire allowed farmers to directly report on critical aspects of modern agriculture, including immediate soil health status, ongoing pest infestations, and the adoption of climate-resilient farming practices. The exercise also closely monitored the logistical side of agriculture by gathering feedback on the timely availability of essential quality inputs and seeds. The valuable data collected through this nationwide exercise will be instrumental for ICAR, corporate social responsibility partners, and policymakers to design targeted, data-backed interventions that directly uplift smallholder farmers and enhance sustainable agricultural productivity across India.
