The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Haryana Branch Office organised the SHINE (Standards Help Inform & Nurture Empowered Women) Programme for members of Morni Mahila Block Sangathan at Block Morni. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 45 Self-Help Group (SHG) members and federation representatives.
Ms. Arti Chaudhary, Standards Promotion Officer, BIS Haryana Branch Office, introduced the participants to BIS and highlighted the importance of quality, safety, and consumer awareness. She explained the significance of the ISI Mark, Hallmarking, the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), and various Indian Standards related to household products, nutrition, hygiene, and women and child care.
A live demonstration of the BIS CARE App was conducted to help participants learn how to verify BIS-certified products and check the authenticity of hallmarked gold jewellery using the HUID. Women associated with various livelihood activities showed keen interest in understanding standards applicable to small enterprises and consumer products.
The participants appreciated the programme and shared that the awareness session enhanced their understanding of consumer rights, quality standards, and methods to identify genuine certified products, enabling them to make informed purchasing decisions and protect themselves from unfair trade practices.
