Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with École Centrale de Nantes, France, marking a significant step towards strengthening international academic engagement and research collaboration. The agreement was signed during the Bharat Innovates – Global Acceleration for Indian Education Ecosystem event being held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16, 2026.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a comprehensive framework to promote international understanding, scholarly cooperation, cultural exchange and academic partnerships between the two institutions. It aims to facilitate educational, professional and cultural interactions among faculty members, researchers and students, thereby fostering long-term institutional collaboration.

Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in key areas including faculty exchange programmes, joint academic activities, student exchange initiatives and collaborative research projects. The partnership will also support the development of multinational and multi-institutional research collaborations funded by government agencies and private sponsors on subjects of mutual interest.

The Memorandum of Understanding further provides for participation in seminars, conferences and academic meetings, exchange of academic materials and information, organisation of specialised short-term academic programmes such as summer research initiatives, and the promotion of study-abroad opportunities. The two institutions will also explore the establishment of joint and dual-degree programmes to enhance global learning opportunities for students.

The partnership is expected to open new avenues for academic excellence, innovation and international research cooperation, while providing students and faculty members with greater exposure to global best practices and emerging areas of knowledge. It represents an important milestone in advancing India’s global academic outreach and strengthening collaboration in higher education, research and innovation.
