The visit is being organized under the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme–2026, an initiative of MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. During their stay, the participants will visit various villages in Kinnaur and interact with local residents, panchayat representatives, district administration officials, and security personnel. The programme aims to provide them with first-hand exposure to the unique cultural diversity and developmental aspects of India’s border regions while strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

The programme formally commenced on June 3 at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Base Camp in Recong Peo, Kinnaur. Participants representing Bihar, Daman & Diu, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and several other states have joined the week-long event.

Upon arrival, the participants received a warm traditional Himachali welcome with the presentation of the iconic Himachali cap and khatak, reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality. Registration formalities were completed smoothly, and participant kits containing programme materials, guidelines, and other essentials were distributed.

On the opening day, participants were briefed about the objectives, schedule, and activities planned for the coming days. The programme also provided an opportunity for young people from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds to interact, exchange ideas, and build lasting friendships.

Participants described the initiative as an important platform for promoting national integration and cultural harmony. They expressed enthusiasm about learning more about the lives of people living in border areas and understanding their contributions to nation-building.

The Viksit Vibrant Village Programme aims to promote the holistic development of border villages, preserve local culture and traditions, and encourage youth participation in nation-building.
