The Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) Meeting was held today at the Conference Hall of All India Radio, Aizawl, bringing together representatives of media units and government organisations in Mizoram to strengthen coordination in public communication, information dissemination, and outreach activities.

Chairing the meeting, Director, DD News Mizoram and Chairman of IMPCC, Nampibou Marinmai, highlighted the important role of the Committee as a common platform for fostering collaboration among media units and government agencies. He stated that effective dissemination of information regarding government policies, welfare schemes, developmental programmes, and public services is essential for ensuring greater public awareness and participation. He emphasized the need for enhanced coordination, timely sharing of information, and collective efforts to maximize the reach and impact of government communications.

Participants deliberated on strategies to improve publicity and awareness of government programmes, strengthen cooperation among Central and State Government organisations, expand outreach through digital and social media platforms, and address misinformation through coordinated communication efforts.

Joint Director (Media & Communication), PIB Guwahati, Smt Pavni Gupta, who attended the meeting, underscored the importance of institutionalized coordination among media units and government departments to ensure effective communication of government initiatives to the public. She proposed that IMPCC meetings be held regularly during the first week of every month to facilitate continuous engagement, information exchange, and joint planning of publicity activities.

She stressed that stronger inter-departmental coordination would help amplify awareness about welfare schemes, flagship programmes, and developmental initiatives, particularly among beneficiaries in remote and underserved areas. She further highlighted the importance of sharing success stories, best practices, and achievements of various departments through coordinated publicity campaigns. Emphasizing Mizoram's unique developmental achievements, cultural richness, and success in implementing government programmes, she called upon all member organisations to work collectively to showcase these accomplishments at the regional and national levels. She also encouraged greater use of digital communication tools and social media platforms to enhance public engagement and ensure wider dissemination of accurate information.

State Information Commissioner Mangjangam Touthang highlighted the importance of timely dissemination of information on government schemes and initiatives to ensure transparency and informed citizen participation. He stressed that effective communication plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the government and the public.

Joint Director, DIPR Mizoram, Mina Zoliani Joute, welcomed the proposal for regular IMPCC meetings. She assured full cooperation and support from the State DIPR in strengthening the activities of the Committee and enhancing collaborative outreach efforts.

Jamil R. Swer, Deputy Director of Census Operations, Mizoram, shared the challenges faced by the Census Department in conducting activities in remote and geographically challenging areas. He expressed confidence that enhanced coordination among member organisations would help address these challenges and facilitate smoother implementation of future exercises.

S. Shyam Singh, Deputy Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), briefed the gathering on archaeological surveys and conservation initiatives being undertaken in Mizoram. He highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve the state's rich heritage, including its unique rock carvings and archaeological sites, and emphasized the need for greater public awareness of heritage conservation.

Representatives from various organisations also shared updates on their ongoing activities, achievements, and publicity requirements. Discussions covered flagship schemes, beneficiary success stories, entrepreneurship and livelihood initiatives, agricultural development, heritage conservation, and the use of media for public awareness campaigns.

The meeting was attended by representatives from PIB, All India Radio, Doordarshan Kendra Aizawl, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Mizoram Information Commission, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), MSME Development and Facilitation Office, and the Office of the Director of Census Operations, Mizoram.
