NIFT Gandhinagar conducted its much-awaited Graduation Project Showcase 2026, titled आरोहणम् – “Aarohanam,” celebrating the spirit of ascent, aspiration, and transformative growth. Centred around this unifying theme, the event aimed to capture the upward journey of each student – from conceptual thinking to professional practice – and highlight the powerful convergence of design thinking, technological innovation, and strategic management. The theme encapsulates the essence of the showcase, honouring the graduating batch’s relentless pursuit of excellence across industry, culture, and society.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar; Mr. Rahul Jitendra Shah, Group Managing Director, LD Group; Mr. Rinish Shethani, Director, Mangal Textiles; Dr. P.K. Rajput, Global Speaker, Leadership Coach and Author; and Mr. Parth Dinesh Patel, Founder Director, Samarth Jewellery. Their presence and insights enriched the dialogue around the evolving landscape of the fashion and design ecosystem, particularly the role of emerging technologies, AI, sustainability, and strategic design thinking.

The programme commenced with an opening inaugural ceremony featuring inspiring speeches from Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar; Mr. Rahul Jitendra Shah, Group Managing Director, LD Group; Mr. Rinish Shethani, Director, Mangal Textiles; Dr. P.K. Rajput, Global Speaker, Leadership Coach and Author; and Mr. Parth Dinesh Patel, Founder Director, Samarth Jewellery.

Professor Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar, congratulated the graduating batch of 259 students on this milestone occasion. He spoke passionately about India’s textile industry, the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, and the PM’s “5F Vision” – Farm to Fibre to Fashion to Foreign – urging students to champion Swadeshi, support handlooms and handicrafts, and help build a stronger domestic textile ecosystem. He emphasised consistency, diligence, and humility, quoting Thomas Edison’s spirit of perseverance, and concluded with lines from Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poetry to inspire graduates to continue their duties with sincerity regardless of outcomes.

Mr. Rahul Jitendra Shah, Group Managing Director, LD Group, focused on the transformative forces shaping India’s textile future – Automation, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. He highlighted India’s ambition to grow textile exports from USD 40 billion to USD 100 billion by 2030, and reassured students that AI would not replace jobs but those who understand AI would surpass those who do not. He encouraged graduates to adapt continuously, embrace innovation, and anchor their work in sustainability and creativity.

Mr. Rinish Shethani, Director, Mangal Textiles, delivered a motivational address grounded in practical business wisdom. He introduced the “5P Formula” – Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance – and urged students to befriend AI, understand mass-market dynamics, exercise financial discipline, and build their own personal brand through ethics and values. He encouraged graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers, and to keep their inner fire alive.

Dr. P.K. Rajput, Global Speaker, Leadership Coach and Author, structured his address around three pillars: Perform to Excel, Career Growth, and Professional Excellence. He spoke about India’s rise as a future Vishwaguru by 2047, emphasising upskilling, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking. He also presented his latest book, Expectations: A Lifeline or a Deadline, during the event.

Mr. Parth Dinesh Patel, Director, Samarth Jewellery, offered a reflective perspective on mindset and happiness. Using the analogy that darkness is the absence of light, he encouraged graduates to approach life’s challenges as the absence of solutions rather than insurmountable obstacles, and urged them to prioritise joy and positivity as they step into their professional journeys.

This event marked the culmination of graduating students from the Master of Design, Master of Fashion Management, Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Accessory Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, and Textile Design programmes, presenting their forward-looking ideas and creative solutions to the pressing needs of our time, developed in collaboration with industry. The projects, developed over four months in partnership with industry partners, NGOs, research institutions, and startups, demonstrate the students’ interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

The event combines various knowledge domains, fostering a dynamic conversation across design, management, technology, and networking. It explores the role of design in shaping inclusive, sustainable, and culturally grounded futures, as well as new-age business models, consumer psychology, and digital strategy. Students also explore how cutting-edge technology revolutionises fashion systems, manufacturing processes, and consumer experiences. The event provides networking opportunities for recruiters, researchers, and professionals to engage with young talent and forge connections with India’s next generation of creative leaders and innovators.
