To promote Nationwide Physical Fitness, SAI Regional Centre Kolkata Observes Commonwealth Day

Over 300 Participants Including Security Personnel, School Students And Local Residents Join The Fitness Drive

The Sports Authority of India Regional Centre, Kolkata, organized the 'Fit India - Sundays on Cycle' event to mark the Commonwealth Day Celebrations. Held under the leadership of Shri Sibananda Mishra, Regional Director of SAI RC Kolkata, the initiative aimed at promoting physical fitness, active community participation and sporting excellence across the region.
The event was graced by Dr. Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay, MLA, as the Chief Guest. Prominent Indian Commonwealth Games medalists also joined the event to inspire the participants :
Rahul Banerjee (Archery - CWG 2010 Gold Medalist), Dola Banerjee (Archery - CWG 2010 Gold & Bronze Medalist), Rahamatulla Molla (Athletics - Commonwealth Medalist), Mouma Das (Table Tennis - multiple CWG Medalist in 2002, 2006, and 2010). 
The mass cycling programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 300 individuals. The diverse gathering included personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force, Armed Border Force and Central Industrial Security Force , alongside representatives from local cycling clubs, school students, neighborhood residents, and SAI coaches and staff.
Beyond celebrating India's rich legacy at the Commonwealth Games, the event served as a vibrant platform to encourage citizens to integrate healthier habits into their daily routines. The collective participation underscored the core vision of the National Fit India Movement - fostering unity, health, and community engagement to build a stronger, fitter nation.
