​​​​​​​Mega 75th Edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle Celebrated Nationwide to Mark Commonwealth Games Day


Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Leads Grand National Fitness Movement from Ahmedabad Ahead of CWG 2030

The landmark 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was successfully organised across the nation on the occasion of Commonwealth Games Day, witnessing massive participation from citizens, athletes, institutions and fitness enthusiasts at thousands of locations across India.

The nationwide event was led by Hon’ble Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, from Ahmedabad, Gujarat — the host city for the historic 2030 Commonwealth Games. The celebrations at Sabarmati Riverfront symbolised India’s growing sporting aspirations and commitment towards building a fitter and healthier nation.

The special edition of Sundays on Cycle brought together participants from diverse sectors including CAPF units, Indian Air Force establishments, CISF, Police departments, sports academies, Khelo India Centres, educational institutions, cycling clubs, software companies and fitness enthusiasts from across the country. The event showcased the spirit of Jan Bhagidari and reinforced the message of fitness, community participation and sports culture.

The event witnessed grand success across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, where thousands of participants enthusiastically joined the cycling movement at multiple centres and locations. The celebrations created a vibrant atmosphere of unity, fitness and sporting spirit across the three states.

The nationwide celebrations were further elevated by the participation of several prominent Commonwealth Games participants, Olympians and medal-winning athletes, whose inspiring presence motivated youth and fitness enthusiasts and added prestige to the event. Their participation

 

highlighted India’s rich sporting legacy and strengthened the spirit of the Commonwealth Games movement across the country.

At Sports Authority of India NSSC Bengaluru, the Bengaluru edition of the event was flagged off by renowned Indian athletes and Commonwealth Games medallists Avinash Sable, Eldhose Paul and Parul Chaudhary. Their inspiring presence added immense energy and motivation to the gathering, highlighting the importance of fitness, discipline and sports in national development. More than 200 participants took part in the event.

Participants enthusiastically took part in cycling rallies and fitness activities, promoting the vision of “Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” under the Fit India Movement envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was organised as a nationwide tribute to India’s Commonwealth Games journey and as a celebration of the country’s successful bid to host the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030 at Ahmedabad. The event also reflected India’s growing emergence as a global sporting powerhouse and its continued focus on grassroots fitness and community participation. Launched on 17 December 2024 under the Fit India Movement envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s largest community-driven fitness movements. Across 74 editions so far, the initiative has reached more than

3.07 lakh locations, engaged over 50 lakh cyclists and connected with more than 7 crore Indians through on-ground activities, digital participation and community outreach. The campaign has consistently expanded beyond cycling by incorporating Yoga, Zumba, rope skipping, recreational sports and wellness activities, making fitness accessible, engaging and inclusive for people of all age groups. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly highlighted the initiative in Mann Ki Baat, reinforcing the message of “Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” as a cornerstone of a healthier and fitter India.

The successful conduct of the event across the country further strengthened the Fit India Movement’s objective of encouraging active lifestyles and creating a vibrant sporting culture among citizens, especially the youth.
