Clarification regarding the news telecast on Z24 Kalak News Channel dated 20/05/2026 titled “The reality exposing Gujarat’s condition? People forced to risk their lives by descending 45 feet deep wells for water.”

As per the news report telecast on Z24 Kalak News Channel on dated 20/05/2026 regarding drinking water issues in Mota Palsan village of Kaprada Taluka, the factual position is submitted as under: Mota Palsan village has a total population of approximately 5,607 and comprises 13 hamlets namely in this village (Nadgpada, Tokarpada, Dagadpada, Verichapada, Nimbarpada, Sheedpada, Umarpada, Dungarpada, Karanjali, Be Rastapada (Two Road), Sopdar, Savarpada and Mulgam).  

Under the Astol Regional Water Supply Scheme, a total of 13 storage tanks have been constructed in the aforesaid hamlets. Water supply is being regularly provided from Niloshi Head Works as per prescribed norms. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the work of internal distribution pipeline network and household tap connections has been completed under the supervision of the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC), and water supply has been commissioned accordingly.

Apart from this, there are 32 functioning hand pumps and wells from which the villagers get water. The matter of the present media report is related to the Be Rastapada (Two Road) hamlet of Moti Palsan village, where the arrangement has been made to provide water to every household under the hamlet under the Astol Regional Water Supply Scheme, and water supply is being provided on as per norms of GWSSB.

During development work of road the internal distribution pipeline as well as the pipe line carrying water to the houses under question was also damaged approximate 1.5 meter section of the pipeline was choked up by soil metal. Due to which the water supply to the said area was stopped, so the residents of this area mainly used to take water from the hand pump located 90 meters away from their houses, while the water in the well mentioned in the media report was very limited/not good enough, so the well was not in use.

The above said damaged and choked up pipeline was repaired and the water supply to Be Rastapada (Two Road) hamlet was started on 21/05/2026 in the afternoon. The well shown in the published photograph is presently dry due to the summer season and Excavation work for another new well is currently under progress and the laborers descending into the well for excavation work. Under the Astol Regional Water Supply Scheme, complaints related to water supply are attended promptly and necessary action is taken for immediate resolution.
