DRI seizes 5.24 kg Heroin from Kathmandu-Delhi Bus Passenger in Lucknow

Based on a specific intelligence that a passenger travelling from Kathmandu to Delhi by a bus would be carrying narcotic drugs concealed in his luggage, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) mounted surveillance and intercepted the suspect passenger in the early hours of 20.05.2026.

A thorough examination of his baggage resulted in the recovery of 5,240 grams of a white powdery substance contained in 2 packets, which was confirmed to be Heroin through field testing. The total recovered Heroin is valued at approximately ₹ 10.48 crores in the illicit drug market.

The recovered Heroin was seized under the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985, and the passenger carrying the contraband was placed under arrest. The arrestee was produced before the Ld. Additional District and Sessions Judge, NDPS Court, Lucknow who remanded him to Judicial custody for 14 days. Further investigation is underway.
In its relentless pursuit towards dismantling the drug mafia, DRI has seized a total of 21.34 kgs of Heroin, valued at approximately ₹42.68 crore in the illicit drug market, at Lucknow in the last six months.
