ICAR-NRCO, Pakyong Organizes “Mera Gaon, Mera Gourav” and NEH Seed Distribution Programme for Farmers of Linkeythang Village

ICAR-National Research Centre for Orchids (ICAR-NRCO), Pakyong, successfully organized the “Mera Gaon, Mera Gourav (MGMG)” programme and an NEH seed distribution activity for farmers of Linkeythang village, Pakyong district, Sikkim on May 21, 2026.

Under MGMG, the ICAR-NRCO team conducted training and awareness sessions covering promotion of organic farming, balanced fertilizer use, crop planning to reduce fertilizer dependency, scientific and technology-based sustainable farming, green manuring, organic substitutes, compost preparation, organic nutrient solution preparation and application, and Integrated Nutrient Management. The sessions aimed to equip local farmers with practices to improve soil health and reduce input costs.

Alongside the training, a distribution programme was held under the ICAR-NEH scheme sponsored by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. A total of 30 farmers/beneficiaries from Linkeythang village received vegetable and fruit seed kits including brinjal, watermelon, tomato, chilli, cowpea, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, amaranthus, and peas.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. S.P. Das, Director, ICAR-NRCO. The NEH Nodal Officer Dr. Kalaivanan, MGMG Nodal Officer Dr. L.C. De, Co-Nodal Officer Dr. Suman Natta, along with Dr. Nikhila V, Dr. Chandan Gowda, Dr. T. Rihne, and other technical staff of the institute, coordinated the activities.

The programme drew a positive response from farmers of Linkeythang village, who appreciated the technical guidance and seed kits provided by ICAR-NRCO.
