Ahead of the grand finale of the 'MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026', the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, successfully organized the 'Nari Shakti Youth Parliament' in Bengaluru on April 12, 2026. The event was graced by Smt. Jyoti Patil, Mayor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, and Smt. Kavita Mishra, a progressive farmer and National Youth Awardee. Anchored in the theme “Nari Shakti: Viksit Bharat Ki Awaaz – Strengthening Inclusive Democracy,” the programme saw the participation of over 40 young women, reflecting strong youth engagement in democratic processes.
This initiative, conducted across 17 zones nationwide, reaffirms the Government’s commitment to placing ‘Yuva Shakti’ (Youth Power) at the center of policy-making. It builds on the consultative spirit of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, where deliberations contributed to shaping key ideas reflected in the Union Budget 2026. The Youth Parliament in Bengaluru brought together young women from diverse academic, social, and regional backgrounds onto a single platform.
The event provided a structured platform to deliberate on issues central to India’s democratic and developmental journey. Participants engaged in parliamentary-style discussions, demonstrating informed perspectives, constructive dialogue, and a strong commitment to ‘Janbhagidari’ (People's Participation).
A major highlight of the session was the serious discussion on strengthening women’s representation in legislative institutions. At the conclusion of these deliberations, a formal resolution was adopted endorsing the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which proposes expanding Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816 with a 33% reservation for women. The resolution also supported the timely implementation of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023' starting from the 2029 General Elections, while emphasizing the need for effective realization of women’s political representation.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the growing role of ‘Nari Shakti’ as leaders and decision-makers in India's development journey. The Youth Parliament provided a powerful platform for young women to articulate their views, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully to national discourse.
Complementing the Youth Parliament, a “Sundays on Cycle” event was organized on the same day at The Art of Living International Centre, Bengaluru, with over 150 youth participants. The cycle rally, held from the Annapurna Gate to the Main Gate of The Art of Living campus, promoted environmental awareness, physical fitness, and a sustainable lifestyle, reinforcing the collective commitment toward building a Green and Viksit Bharat.
