Youth Must Lead in Strengthening Democracy with ‘Nation First’ Spirit: Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (My Bharat), organized the ‘Nari Shakti Yuva Sansad’ (Women’s Power Youth Parliament) at the Art of Living International Centre on Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru, today. This landmark event served as the grand finale of a nationwide initiative conducted across 17 zones. Centered on the theme “Nari Shakti: Voice of Viksit Bharat – Strengthening Inclusive Democracy,” the program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 950 youth, including 40 young women speakers who took the lead in parliamentary discussions.

In a special message, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lauded the spirited participation of the youth. He emphasized that such platforms are vital for strengthening participatory governance, enabling young citizens to contribute meaningfully to the roadmap of national development.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, urged the participants to take up leadership roles in nation-building. "Guided by the principles of 'Nation First' and 'Duty,' the youth must be at the forefront of strengthening our democracy," the Minister stated. Invoking the 'Panch Pran' pledge, he called upon young citizens to actively contribute toward the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. He further announced that the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ dialogue would now adopt a decentralized format, beginning with state-level versions and quizzes, allowing top performers to advance to the national stage.

In alignment with the objectives of Budget Quest 2026, the event featured high-level panel discussions on critical developmental pillars. Mrs. Binisha Payattati (Executive Director, IIWM) and Dr. Vinod Prabhu (MD, Seventh Sense Talent Solutions) discussed Human Capital & Skill Development:strategic investments in education, skill development, and employment generation. Dr. G.K. Sadananda (UHS Campus), Dr. Tusharakanta Behera (Director, IIHR-ICAR), and National Award-winning progressive farmer Dr. Kavitha Mishra shared insights on the topic Agriculture & strengthening the rural economy and farmer welfare.

Complementing the academic discussions, a “Sundays on Cycle” initiative was organized at the venue to promote environmental awareness, physical fitness, and sustainable living. This Zone-8 event brought together participants from Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep, who showcased their perspectives on democratic values and Jan Bhagidari (People's Participation) through parliamentary-style debates.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Union Minister of State for Labour, Employment, and MSME, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje; Member of Parliament (Bengaluru Rural), Dr. C.N. Manjunath; and Member of Parliament (Bengaluru Central), Shri P.C. Mohan, alongside other dignitaries and youth icons.
