Media must function as Responsible partner for realizing Viksit Bharat: ADG, PIB, Shri Akhil Kumar Mishra

Shri Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) & Central Bureau of Communication, Bhubaneswar visited Fakir Mohan University today and interacted with students of Journalism and Mass Communication on the theme “From Policy to Public: The Power of Everyday Communication in Building Viksit Bharat.”

Addressing the students, Shri Mishra emphasized the pivotal role of media in nation-building stating that it must function as a responsible partner in the country’s development process. He emphasized that effective communication—marked by clarity, coherence, and meaningful expression—is essential for bridging the gap between public policy and citizens. He further noted that everyday communication serves as a key driver in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat.

           Gracing the occasion, Prof. Bharatibala Pattanaik, Professor and Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, highlighted that communication is instrumental in enhancing awareness and facilitating behavioural change. She noted that students of communication disciplines have a crucial role to play in contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

            During his visit, Shri Mishra held a courtesy meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy. The programme was attended by Dr. Smti Padhi, Asst. Professor, Dr. Ashes Kumar Nayak, Asst. Professor, Ms. Moti Pankgam, Asst. Professor, Shri Dhirendra Behera, Assistant Professor along with students from the Departments of Social Work, Sociology, and Social Science.

The session concluded with an engaging interaction, during which Shri Mishra appreciated the students’ insightful perspectives and commended their articulate and thought-provoking questions.
