The Central GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana, has achieved a significant milestone in tax administration, reporting a robust GST Revenue (Cash) Collection of Rs. 9,015 Crores for the Financial Year 2025-26. This achievement reflects a growth of approximately 8.50% compared to the Rs. 8,311 Crores collected in the previous financial year (FY 2024-25).
Alongside the surge in revenue, the Commissionerate has also witnessed a substantial expansion in its taxpayer base, which now stands at 1.34 Lakhs. This marks an impressive 10% increase from the taxpayer base recorded in FY 2024-25. As the fundamental core of the GST regime relies heavily on self-assessment, this dual growth in both revenue collection and taxpayer registration is a strong reflection of increased voluntary compliance and economic formalization within the region.
To ensure a level playing field for all genuine and honest taxpayers, the Central GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana, has actively pursued strict enforcement and anti-evasion actions throughout the fiscal year.
During FY 2025-26, a total of 296 cases were booked involving estimated GST evasion worth approximately Rs. 1662 Cr. This records a notable increase of about 700% compared to the evasion figures booked in the previous financial year. Consequently, 20 individuals involved in GST evasion have been arrested under the provisions of GST laws. Criminal prosecutions against these offenders have also been launched. The Commissionerate has recovered approximately Rs. 106 Cr in this FY which is 39% higher than previous FY. In order to protect the interest of revenue, the Department has been actively pursuing pro-active measures like provisional attachment of properties, as per the law.
Despite the positive growth and successful enforcement drives, the Commissionerate acknowledges that the generation and utilization of ineligible or fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) remains a persistent threat. Bogus and dummy firms operating on the strength of fake bills—without the actual physical supply or receipt of goods—continue to pose challenges. The Commissionerate is systematically addressing these fraudulent activities with advanced analytical tools and targeted vigilance to strictly prevent revenue leakage.
Reaffirming its dedication to the Government of India’s vision of a "Viksit Bharat", the Central GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana, prioritizes trade facilitation alongside tax enforcement. The Commissionerate continues to actively liaison with taxpayers, conducting regular meetings with representatives from leading trade and industry bodies, as well as business associations across Punjab. These collaborative efforts aim to promptly address grievances, streamline processes, and foster a highly supportive, taxpayer-friendly environment.
