POWERGRID sets up India’s First ULDC Phase‑III SLDC Control Center at DVC Towers

The state-of-the art upgraded Load Despatch (LDC) Main Control Center was inaugurated at Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Towers by Shri S. Suresh Kumar, Chairman, DVC on March 30, 2026.
The upgradation of the control center has been implemented by POWERGRID under the Unified Load Despatch and Communication (ULDC) Phase-III Project in the Eastern Region, encompassing the Regional Load Despatch Center (RLDC) and all its constituents. Similar modernization initiatives are underway across the country.
Significantly, DVC’s LDC Main Control center is the first upgraded control center to be commissioned in India—an achievement made possible through the collaborative efforts of DVC, POWERGRID, and GE. This modernization marks a vital step in strengthening grid operations, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring more effective grid management.

K. Naik, Executive Director, ER-II (POWERGRID); Shri Sunil Kumar, Chief General Manager (In-Charge, GA&C, POWERGRID); Shri Somanath Nayak Chief General Manager ER-II (POWERGRID) Shri S. Banerjee, Chief Engineer, SLDC (WBSETCL) and Shri Nilesh Raje, Director (GE), along with senior officials from DVC, POWERGRID, Grid-India, and GE were also present on the occasion.
