Western Railway celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 on Sunday, 8th March with a unique outreach initiative in collaboration with the popular radio channel BIG FM, bringing the inspiring stories of women railway employees directly to listeners through live studio interactions at major railway stations.
A special “Live Studio Shift” was organised by BIG FM on Sunday, March 8, 2026, simultaneously at Churchgate Railway Station, Vadodara Railway Station, and Indore Railway Station as part of the Women’s Day celebrations.
During the live broadcast sessions, Radio Jockeys from BIG FM engaged in conversations with women officers and employees from various departments of Western Railway. At Churchgate station, the session was hosted by RJ Rani, who interacted with around thirty women employees of Western Railway, discussing their professional journeys, experiences, and achievements. Similarly, the live session at Vadodara station was hosted by RJ Megha, while the Indore station interaction was hosted by RJ Pihu.

In these engaging discussions, the women railway employees shared insights into their roles and responsibilities in railway operations. They spoke about the inspiration behind choosing a career in the railway sector and the challenges encountered during their professional journeys. The participants highlighted how determination, perseverance, and dedication helped them overcome obstacles while contributing to the safe and efficient functioning of the railway system.
The interactions also highlighted the increasing participation of women in technical and operational roles within the Railways, reflecting the progressive transformation taking place within the organisation. The employees expressed pride in being part of a workforce where women are steadily assuming significant responsibilities across departments.

During the programme, the participants also delivered motivational messages for young girls, encouraging them to pursue careers in engineering, technical fields, and the railway sector with confidence and determination.
Western Railway remains committed to promoting gender equality and empowering women employees by providing opportunities across diverse departments. Initiatives such as these not only recognise the valuable contributions of women in the organisation but also inspire the next generation to break barriers and achieve their aspirations.
