A preparatory meeting was convened on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the PIB Imphal office ahead of the Manipur media delegation’s press tour to Kerala scheduled from February 22 to 27. The briefing session was chaired by Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB) Imphal, prior to the team’s departure.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pame highlighted the key objectives of the tour and underscored the importance of responsible, accurate, and development-focused journalism. He said the tour would be an enlightening and engaging experience, providing meaningful insights into the functioning of key government institutions while fostering strong professional relationships. He added that the primary objective of the tour is to give media professionals first-hand knowledge of central government initiatives and flagship programmes, including Smart City projects, major infrastructure developments, and research establishments.

He further explained that the tour would create a platform for media personnel to interact directly with officials, scientists, and beneficiaries. This interaction would help them better understand both the operational challenges and the achievements of various government projects.

According to him, the tour would also help build long-term partnerships by strengthening professional ties between the media and different government departments, ensuring improved communication channels for accurate and effective future reporting.

The 12-member delegation comprises ten journalists representing both valley and hill districts of Manipur, drawn from print and electronic media. The participating organisations include The Sangai Express, Poknapham, ISTV, Impact TV, NE news, Hueiyen Lanpao, Sanaleibak, India Today NE, Gaanphiu Mail, Akashvani Imphal, and Cham.

The press tour is being organised by PIB Imphal in collaboration with PIB Kochi and PIB Thiruvananthapuram under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

Shri Moirangthem Rustum, Assistant Director, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Chandel, is coordinating the tour and accompanying the delegation as the Conducting Officer. He is joined by Shri Thokchom Rabichandra, Information Assistant, PIB Imphal.
